"Nothing is," I told her bluntly. "And that's the problem." "How is that a problem?" "I shouldn't be here." "Don't start that again." "What?" I asked defiantly. "That whole 'I'm endangering you by being here,' That." I chuckled at her imitation of me.

He chuckled at my lame imitation of him and then he sighed. "I am e-" he started before I interrupted him. "There is only one way you could hurt me" I sighed leaning into his chest. "Laina" he tried again but I wasn't going back to that subject. The last time we discussed this he left me. I shuddered at the thought. "Don't" I sighed shaking my head unwanting to discuss that again.

"Elaina," I tried to get her attention again, but she was indignant to the idea. "Elaina," I repeated, this time tilting her chin upwards, forcing her to look me in the eye. "I'm fighting between giving you what you - and I - want, and giving you the life you deserve. And I'm pretty sure I'm losing this battle, but if I ever allowed anything to hurt you... If there was anything I could have somehow prevented... Please don't make me face that."

"Nothings going to happen to me" I smiled at him. He didn't look so convinced. "Don't worry I'm much stronger then I look" I laughed remembering how much he bled the previous evening. He laughed to. "I know. My nose still hurts" he said rubbing his nose. I laughed in triumph knowing that I won this time.

I very quickly flung her over my shoulder, she gasped and then realized what had just happened. "Lemme down! get off me!" She screamed, and I simply laughed. She beat her fists against my back, but they felt like nothing more than feathers. I chortled at her attempt to hurt me.

"Lemme done!" I exclaimed beating my fists against his back. He chuckled at my poor attempt to hurt him. "Dain" I shouted again "Don't make me hurt you". He laughed even harder at the idea of me hurting him. Getting impatient I kneed him in the gut, knocking the wind out of him. He toppled over in pain, with me falling falling not far behind. "Sorry, but at least I warned you" I smiled. "You never told me you played dirty" he gasped trying to catch his breath. I just smiled innocently down at him.

She fell on top of me, as I tried to catch my breath. I smiled, grabbing her and pulling her against the ground, and she screamed playfully. "Two can play at that game," I grinned, now I was the one smiling down at her. She laughed.

He pulled me off and pushed me against the ground, holding me down by my arms. "Two can play at that game" he smiled down at me. I laughed playfully at that. "You better be careful or next you wont be so lucky" I smiled playfully back. He looked at me confused, but was still smiling at me. "Next time it might not be your gut" I explained with an innocent smile on my face.

I chuckled, "Next time?" I raised my eyebrows at her. She squirmed, trying to get loose, but I wasn't giving up yet. "You never know," I smiled, lowering myself so my lips were just inches from her throat, "I might just end up being a vampire," I spoke threateningly, and she giggled.

His mouth was inches away from my throat as he spoke. I giggled uncontrollably at that. "Oh yeah. I'll bet I'll tastes delicious" I teased. He chuckled at that leaning in to scare me. "Only one way to find out" he said in a mocking serious tone. He closed the distance between us and kissed my neck. "Mm... Your right delicious" He smiled licking his lips. I giggled shyly at that.

I pulled back to look at her clearly, and her eyes sparkled in the fading light of sunset. Dusk...Twilight...Such pretty names. We owed something to the night, didn't we? "I forgot to ask you," I smiled down at her, "How, pray tell, was your first day here?"

His question surprised me a little. "Em..It was great" I smiled hoping he would believe my false smile. "That bad ah?" He asked seeing straight through me. " I just don't like to much attention" I admitted shyly. "I'm sorry about that, I should have warned you" he smiled down at me.

She shrugged, and I held back a chuckle. I desperately wanted to hear her perform, after seeing her classmates reactions. i know freshmen are easy to amuse, rushing to the newest source of talent or superiority they found like a flock of sheep, but all the same, I was dying with curiosity.

He got off me and lay on the ground beside me. He seemed to be in his own little world of thought. I turned to face him. He smiled back at me, but didn't say anything like I had expected. "Whats wrong?" I asked beginning to worry. "Nothing" he smiled "I'm just curious"

"Nothing," I smiled. What could possibly be wrong? The moment was almost-perfect. Which was enough for me. For now. "I'm just curious," I shrugged, remember my previous thoughts about her talent. "Curious?" She almost smiled, "About what?" "I was just wondering how it would be if I'd heard you sing, if I'd known what all those freshmen were so impressed by." "Not a chance," She warned, hearing my subtle hint.
