I half-lay half-sat on the bed, against the wall. Will's head was rested on my lap, and she was playing with her phone. Elaina sat on the floor, fidgeting nervously. I realized this was her first Wingless evacuation. I sighed, and Will looked up at me without moving. "What's it, da'aling?" She smiled.

He smiled down at me and said, "Nothing."
"I know you better than that, hon," I rolled my eyes.
He looked at Laina, "I was just thinking what a shock this must be to her."
I looked at her, too. "Hm, you're right. You feeling alright, hon?" I asked her.

I sighed in exasperation and got up from my comfortable position. I sat on the side of the bed with my shoulders hunched, staring at Laina. "Look, da'aling, if we didn't have precautions from when the wingless come to visit, chances are we'd be extinct by now. It's a routine thing, what you just saw. They is s'posed to teach you it on your firs day, but I guess you came with short notice, right?"

"Right"I tried to smile.The thing is that that was not why I was scared. I saw the wingless and if that didn't scare me then this did. They looked sick.Truly and genuinely sick.If the wingless were sick, then it would only be a matter of time before we got sick. And that thought is what scared me the most.

I could feel my face heat up as she said that."I wouldn't say that"I smiled embarrassedly. She smiled at me"You wouldn't call yourself a player?"She remarked cheekily.I smiled."No. I wouldn't call him a player" With that everyone began laughing, even Chad which was highly unusual.

I laughed, and then sighed. "And how long have you Known him? For all you knew he could've been an axe-murderer!" I smiled and Chad chuckled softly. Her face burned hotter and her eyes were wide. I realized she might have taken me seriously. "That was a joke," I added sternly.
"So... He is a player...?"
I ignored that, and muttered, "She falls for the player--"
"--And she plays the same game," Chad finished for me, smiling and then kissing my forehead.

I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I could feel my face turning red for the millionth time in the past hour.But I realized they were right I didn't know a thing about him.I heard Chad mutter something to Willow."What do you mean by that?"I challenged Chad.

"Nothing, hon," I sighed leaning back against Chad's chest again. He wrapped one arm around my chest and kept the other casually behind his head. Elaina's eyes narrowed.
"How exactly is he a player?"
I laughed, "How d'you think? Like every other man, I guess."
Chad coughed lightly, to remind me he was still here. Like I could forget. "Sorry, every man but one," I rolled my eyes at him.

I couldn't help but see... Something was bothering Chad. His eyes were clouded and troubled. Weird, that was usually my thing. I sat up suddenly and twisted around to stare further into them, desperate for some kind of answer to draw, some kind of solution, some way to stop his pain...
This time, it was Elaina's cough that brought me out of my daze.

"You OK?" Laina asked him. He seemed taken aback.
"That's what you were talking about? Oh, sorry, I hadn't really been listening to any of it..." He admitted sheepishly, pulling his arm around my chest once more. I chortled slightly.
"No, she ignored the question and asked her own, silly," I smiled at his obvious mistake. He smiled back.
